Grow deeper in faith through study. See below for upcoming classes and Bible studies.

Take a Deeper Dive into Faith

The dates for the next Bible 101 class are TBD.

We are a Bible church, but not all of us in this church have the same knowledge, understanding, or interpretation of the Bible.

Using the book, "Making Sense of the Bible," by Adam Hamilton, we will engage on the history of Scripture, the context of the Old and New Testaments, the authority of Scripture in our lives and various ways to interpret. Then, we will begin to discuss topics such as violence, suffering, science, sexuality, tattoos, and end times with our various understandings of scripture. In this class we seek to hear and understand one another and not defend or explain our own understandings.

Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World: Finding Intimacy with God in the Business of Life

By Joanna Weaver

The life of a woman today isn’t all that different from the lives of Mary and Martha in the New Testament. Like Mary, you long to sit at the Lord’s feet . . . but the daily demands of a busy world just won’t leave you alone. Like Martha, you love Jesus and really want to serve him . . . yet you struggle with weariness, resentment, and feelings of inadequacy.

Then comes Jesus, into the midst of your busy life, to extend the same invitation he issued long ago to the two sisters from Bethany. Tenderly, he invites you to choose “the better part”—a joyful life of intimacy with him that flows naturally into loving service.

With her fresh approach to the familiar Bible story, Joanna Weaver shows how all of us, Marys and Marthas alike, can draw closer to our Lord: deepening our devotion, strengthening our service, and doing both with less stress and greater joy.

Join us for a 10-session study, which meets every third Saturday, from 9-11:00 for coffee, snacks and fellowship, followed by a film and small discussion groups. We will study the book “Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World: Finding Intimacy with God in the Business of Life” by Joanna Weaver.

The Gift of Being Yourself:
The Sacred Call to Self-Discovery
by Dr David G. Benner
Begins March 4th, Six Weekly Sessions
10:30 AM - Noon, Katie's Quarters

“Christian spirituality is a transformational journey. It is taking on the mind and heart of Christ as we recognize Christ as the deepest truth of our being. It is not just becoming like Christ, but actualizing the Christ, who already lives in us.” Such transformation calls us not only to the knowledge of God, but also the knowledge of one’s self.

Reverend Carla Williams will facilitate six weekly conversations beginning March 4th. Sign up and get your book from the church office. For more information, contact Reverend Carla at revcarla@comcast.net.
