Grow deeper in faith through study. See below for upcoming classes and Bible studies.

Take a Deeper Dive into Faith

The dates for the next Bible 101 class are TBD.

We are a Bible church, but not all of us in this church have the same knowledge, understanding, or interpretation of the Bible.

Using the book, "Making Sense of the Bible," by Adam Hamilton, we will engage on the history of Scripture, the context of the Old and New Testaments, the authority of Scripture in our lives and various ways to interpret. Then, we will begin to discuss topics such as violence, suffering, science, sexuality, tattoos, and end times with our various understandings of scripture. In this class we seek to hear and understand one another and not defend or explain our own understandings.

The RLC Library is open to everyone. There is so much material to explore: Christian movies, book studies grounded in scripture, resource materials, devotionals and Bibles.

8 Week Book Study

10:00 AM - 11:45 AM, Luther's Lair

As followers of our Lord Jesus, each of us is called into a life of Christian maturity. Like human growth from infancy to adulthood, growing into the character of Christ progresses over time as we participate in activities designed to nurture and lead us into a deeper intimacy with God.

This adult learning opportunity anticipates reading assignments and active discussion (facilitated by experienced leader and retired pastor Reverend Carla Williams) based on the book Sacred Rhythms: Arranging Our Lives for Spiritual Transformation.

Women of all ages and denominations are invited to participate in this small group ministry. Bible-related books are studied. A designated facilitator guides the group through the study. The group meets year-round on Thursday mornings at 9:00 AM.

Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World: Finding Intimacy with God in the Business of Life

By Joanna Weaver

The life of a woman today isn’t all that different from the lives of Mary and Martha in the New Testament. Like Mary, you long to sit at the Lord’s feet . . . but the daily demands of a busy world just won’t leave you alone. Like Martha, you love Jesus and really want to serve him . . . yet you struggle with weariness, resentment, and feelings of inadequacy.

Then comes Jesus, into the midst of your busy life, to extend the same invitation he issued long ago to the two sisters from Bethany. Tenderly, he invites you to choose “the better part”—a joyful life of intimacy with him that flows naturally into loving service.

With her fresh approach to the familiar Bible story, Joanna Weaver shows how all of us, Marys and Marthas alike, can draw closer to our Lord: deepening our devotion, strengthening our service, and doing both with less stress and greater joy.

Join us for a 10-session study, which meets every third Saturday, from 9-11:00 for coffee, snacks and fellowship, followed by a film and small discussion groups. Sign up here. Space is limited. The first meeting is on January 18th. The Book and Study Guide can be purchased on Amazon for $9.49 and $9.99 respectively. If you are currently in the Faithful Living Fellowship "The Faithful: Heroes of the Old Testament" study, and have told your Facilitator that you wish to continue, there is no need to sign up here.
